Monument Motel & RV Park

Cute motel in a small town. The owners definitely took care to make the rooms comfortable and clean. We had a room with a kitchenette and it was well stocked with all the cooking gear needed. Beds were comfy and the atmosphere was peaceful.

Love this place! The owner, Jackie, is very personable. It felt like we'd been friends for years. Within a few minutes of arrival, she was there checking us in & telling us about the community and activities in the area. The rooms are large. There was plenty of space for my husband, daughter and myself. We liked the separate bedroom with queen bed and twin bed in the living area. It was also nice having a small kitchen area with a sink, refrigerator, microwave. The dishes, silverware and utensils were also provided. Monument is a beautiful, sleepy little town. Just what we were looking for!

I love this place. The rooms are perfect. The owners are kind and warm. Stay here.

We parked in a nice little RV space. We enjoyed a rainstorm and watched deer in the meadow beside us. It was a very nice little park and the owners were very friendly and nice! Nice, quiet, friendly, clean, full hookups. Could not ask for more. We will be back!!

I can't say much about the rooms as we stayed on the property but not in a room. My GPS sputtered out mid move and we got lost and low on gas. Pulled in around 11 to sleep in our car and uhaul, hoping to get directions in the morning. We were met with a very welcoming and gracious host. Gave us directions, let us use the restroom, offered coffee and some good conversation while we waited for the gas station to open. He felt bad that we slept in our cars instead of waking them (husband/wife owned) to get accommodations for the night. Just from interacting with him and other guests, I would highly recommend staying here. The views and wild life are amazing but the two sweet cats that roam the property are their own welcome crew as well.

My husband and I rode our Harleys up, nice ride. I was impressed with how clean and kept up it was and the efforts they took to make it a comfortable nice place. Like the full size coffee pot with a jar of coffee. Nice homey quilt, not a motel bedspread, real comfy country chair. Quality towels. For a little town with one motel, I was pleasantly surprised. I forgot my phone and they called us on our ride back to Boise and said they would mail it asap. They did. They also offered us there cooler to use as we were taking beers to a friends house in the area. There is a small store/gas station in town also. We will visit again. :)

As of August 2017, new owners. A 1950s throwback in an isolated area with virtually no places to stay. The new owners are friendly and hospitable, and told us they have plans to add some amenities, such as breakfast. Motel is clean and simple. No food available onsite. TV channels were iffy (this is a very remote area, so likely not the motel's fault) and you can't reserve a room online, to my knowledge. If you're exploring the Oregon high desert or coming to / from the John Day Fossil Beds national monument, this place fills a niche in a sparsely populated area of Oregon.

Sherry and Ron are a great asset to our annual group arrival. They manage a delicious dinner and breakfast for 10+ people with ease. The rooms are impeccably clean and well stocked. The view of the John Day River is lovely. The night stars from the front lawn make remote Oregon so special. Finding this gem in such a stunning part of the world makes traveling easy and comfortable. Thanks to the team at Monument Motel!
